Some deaths in detention have been publicly known, including a 50-year-old medical chief who lost his life in confinement after a third of a year in detention.

A detainee incarcerated with the victim reported that he was led to the yard by prison staff immediately preceding his death, clearly wounded and naked from the lower body. His remains has not been returned to Gaza.

Other prisoners who perished in confinement by Israeli authorities stay unnamed. Detention administrators and armed services supplied investigators with the figure of casualties in confinement, and minimal additional information including the facility where they died, but not the prisoners’ names.

Documentation Problems
