Exactly 135 days after the previous coach's first press conference as the club's manager, his replacement Danny Rohl met with reporters at Ibrox for the initial occasion.

The scale of the challenge ahead of him is widely recognized, considering his predecessor's chaotic and unsuccessful 123-day tenure.

The ex- Wednesday manager was accompanied by chairman Andrew Cavenagh, along with the frequently questioned pair of sporting director Thelwell and chief executive Stewart.

But what exactly did we learn from the young German's first public appearance as Rangers boss?

The Manager's Primary Focus - Winning is Everything

A single message emerged loud and clear from Rohl's initial presentation in front of the local press - he understands the necessity to secure victories, and do so rapidly.

His predecessor Russell Martin lasted only 17 games and four months in charge, so the question arose about what timeframe the new man thinks is realistic to transform the struggling team.

Although deftly sidestepping a specific response that might create later expectations, the coach's message was very evident.

"With hope very quickly," he stated. "This is essential.
"In this business you have not much time. You can discuss future plans but we know it concerns immediate results and that period involves securing victories. That is what I demand.
"One thing is also clear - I require all players to understand how we want to play. I return to my main message: victory comes first, entertaining football and unity. By following this order, I believe that I will remain very long here."

Expectations are Standard

Martin required security protection to exit the Falkirk Stadium after his final match as manager.

We've seen how hostile environments can become at football clubs when results are poor. Protests have almost become a regular aspect of game day atmosphere on each part of the city these days.

As the club's most youthful ever head coach, the question asked about what qualities the coach thinks he has that would enable him to cope, let alone excel, in among the highest-pressure roles in British football?

"I think pressure in this business are standard," he commented. "One needs to understand that rapidly.
"I think certain individuals could reference my youth but I'm 16 years on this path. I had an excellent opportunity to be at Bayern Munich and serve as only an assistant coach, but I experienced what it means to be a head coach and the pressure you face.
"You begin winning games and then certain people claim you must produce entertaining football. That's the next stage but precisely what I want. I enjoy those expectations and I look forward for what's ahead."

Thelwell Explains Striker Acquisition & Appointing His Son

Kevin Thelwell media conference

The media pack had numerous inquiries from the media for Thelwell.

Significant attention has concerned the hiring of his son as recruitment chief, with supporters unconvinced about his qualifications for the role.

However, he defended and clarified the choice to recruit his son to the club.

"It remains awkward to listen and in appearance I think we all agreed when we made this step to appoint him that he would be seen negatively," Thelwell stated.
"The reality of the situation is that we want to attract the top talent here.
"My perspective on his professional path and background is he required no family help in football.
"He's worked at Aston Villa as head scout, after which he joined Norwich as head of scouting and then got promoted to player pathways manager.
"Prior to our hiring him, multiple Premier League clubs sought to sign him. Our approach from the start of the process was consult with Patrick, Andrew and vice-chairman Marathe about this matter.
"I was highly open and I believe he likely experienced a more rigorous procedure than any other who's employed by this football club.
"What I do know is that he'll labor constantly to achieve success for this football club and I anticipate to him demonstrating that he'll become a valuable staff member for Rangers."

Additionally, Thelwell defended the acquisition of striker Youssef Chermiti, who joined Rangers for an alleged first payment of £8m, after failing to score in 24 appearances for his previous club.

It was Thelwell who transferred the Portuguese youth international to Merseyside from Sporting Lisbon - once more for large funds in a £15m transfer.

He was asked if he supports his multi-million pound signing, who is yet to register in seven outings for Rangers.

"Yes, completely," Thelwell answered. "I think Youssef Chermiti is a player who's got great ability.
"I've never questioned him whatsoever. Similarly, I believe Danny will help to get the best out of the player.
"These are initial stages for the young player, he remains young talent and of course with young talents they occasionally require patience.
"But I'm certain over the course of his time at the club he'll demonstrate that he's a highly capable footballer."

Stewart Understands Fan Frustration and Hurt

Stewart was also facing firing line, given the vitriol that has been aimed his way by certain of the club's own supporters.

There was even a sign in the stadium during the recent tie with United suggesting him - and Thelwell - to pack his bags before they were packed for them.

Similar to the football director, the CEO did not avoid the issue.

"I completely appreciate the disappointment and anger that the supporters are feeling because performances recently haven't been expectations and nobody's satisfied with those," he stated.
"The hurt and frustration fans experience is matched within the boardroom.
"Recognize that there must exist an outlet for that dissatisfaction and in my role, that's me.
"I'm a focal point for such issues and my role as a
